Send Jim Lipinski to Montpelier to Protect our Democracy
Unless we can protect democracy, nothing else matters. Without a vigorous democracy, we can’t have meaningful discussions to solve our biggest challenges. It will be difficult to achieve people-first policies if our voices are drowned out by big-money in politics. Because this is foundational to everything else, it is my number one priority.
Here is what I’ll do to protect democracy
Get big money out of politics – click to learn more
I will start by proposing legislation similar to what was recently passed in Hawaii to strip corporations of the power to contribute to and interfere in politics and elections.
Ensure that our right to vote is protected – click to learn more
I will work to pass legislation that keeps our elections as the U.S. Constitution intended, matters for the states, free of federal intrusion.
Develop laws and regulations that put a firewall between big money and policy-makers – click to learn more
I will work to pass legislation that keeps reins in how money is able to disproportionately influence the legislative process. Policy makers need the resources to their jobs without reliance on monied interest groups “volunteering” to help with the process, often without improving societal outcomes as their primary motivation.
Ensure that Government respects the Constitution – click to learn more
The U.S. Constitution is the foundation of our nation, but it is only as strong as those who hold government accountable. The Constitution will not enforce itself, which is why I am committed to protecting our civil liberties. I will work to enact laws that prevent masked law enforcement officers, warrantless arrests, and other violations that unfortunately, are too common today.
